February 27, 2003
On Thursday February 27, 2003 Gordon Campbell,
premier of British Columbia put an end to the hearsay by announcing
the much anticipated expansion of Cranbrook Airport. “We’ll be starting immediately to work with the
city of Cranbrook to complete their airport expansion.”
The expansion will see a 900 metre extension to the existing
runway and an additional 1,100 square metres added to the
terminal. In practical terms, this means that Cranbrook will
be able to accommodate wide bodied jets able
to deliver 200 to 300 passengers from the US, Europe
and Asia to their ski, golf and outdoor adventure
vacations.
Coupled with a $4 million multi year marketing plan and the fact that at a mere 20 minute drive, Kimberley Alpine
Resort is the one of the closest ski destinations
to an international airport in North America you
can be assured that Kimberley will not remain the best kept
secret of the Rockies for long.
